A call greeting is a short message every caller hears before they’re put through, like “Thanks for calling, you’re through to Dave’s Plumbing.” It sets the tone and reassures the caller they’ve reached the right place, before anyone even picks up. It’s set per number. Go to Settings, then Phone numbers, open the number, and choose the Advanced tab.

Setting a greeting

  1. On the Advanced tab, find Call greeting and turn on Enable call greeting.
  2. Click Edit greeting.
  3. Choose one:
    • Record your greeting records it there and then, using your microphone. You can re-record it until you’re happy.
    • Upload pre-recorded message lets you drag in an audio file you already have. Files must be MP3 or WAV.
  4. Save.
Once it’s set, the greeting card shows the current file, and you can click Play greeting to hear it back.
A call greeting is different from a voicemail greeting. The call greeting plays to everyone before they’re connected. A voicemail greeting plays only when the caller reaches voicemail. See Voicemail.
