Your caller ID is the number that shows up on someone’s phone when you call them. In Dialbird it’s tied to the inbox you’re working in, so the number people see is always one of your own. This page explains how that works, how to switch it when you have more than one number, and what to do if a number gets rejected. When you call someone, they see the number of the inbox you currently have open in the left-hand sidebar. It doesn’t matter whether you dial from the dialler, from a chat, or by ringing back a past call: the open inbox is what decides your caller ID every time. You can always check which number you’re about to use. The top of the call window shows the name of the number you’re calling from.

Calling from a different number

There’s no dropdown in the dialler for this, so the inbox you’re in is what decides your caller ID. To call from a different number, click that inbox in the sidebar first, then make your call. Dialbird remembers the inbox you used last, even after you close the tab and come back, so your number stays the same until you switch again.
If you have more than one number, say a mobile and a landline, check which inbox is open before you dial. That’s the only thing that decides which number they see.

If your number gets rejected

Sometimes a call fails with:
Connection error: Invalid caller ID. Please verify your phone number.
This means there’s a problem with the number you’re calling from, not the one you’re calling. It usually means that number still needs its setup or identity checks finished before it can make calls.
Needs checking: explain what someone should actually do here, does the number need verifying, does it need identity checks finishing, or should they contact support?
