The Chats tab is where your text conversations live, one row per person. The newest sits at the top, pinned ones float above the rest, and anything unread has a purple badge next to it so it’s easy to spot. Click a conversation to open it and reply.
Tidying a conversation
To keep your list under control, right-click a conversation, or use the ⋮ menu at the top of an open chat, to:
- Pin it: keeps it at the top of your list, above everything else.
- Mark as read or unread.
- Mark as closed when you’re done with it. See Open and closed.
- Block the person, so they can no longer call or text you.
- Delete the conversation.
The right-click menu also has Select conversations for acting on a batch (see below). Deleting asks you to confirm with Delete conversation? first.
Deleting is permanent. Once a conversation is gone, it can’t be brought back.
Doing several at once
To act on a batch, right-click a conversation and choose Select conversations, or hover a conversation’s avatar and tick the checkbox that appears. A purple bar shows at the bottom with a ⋮ menu that lets you, all in one go:
- Mark as read or Mark as unread
- Close conversations or Open conversations
- Pin conversations or Unpin conversations
- Delete (it confirms first, and tells you how many you’re about to delete)
Blocked conversations
A blocked conversation shows a red icon in the list and a red Blocked label at the top of the chat. To let the person back through, open the ⋮ menu and choose Unblock. See Blocking a contact.
