You can bring a US business number across to Dialbird and keep it exactly as your customers know it. The same number, ringing in Dialbird instead of wherever it is now.

Getting started

  1. Go to Settings, then Phone numbers.
  2. Click Port an existing number.
  3. Fill in the form with the details of the US number you want to move.
Some of your account details are filled in for you. For the rest, have your current carrier’s account details ready. See What you need.

While you wait

Your US number keeps working with your current carrier until the handover finishes. It only starts ringing in Dialbird once the port completes, so there’s no gap in service. See Checking your porting status.

Good to know

  • Keep your current service active until the number is live in Dialbird. Cancelling early can put the number at risk.
  • Match your carrier’s records exactly. US ports are checked against the details your current carrier holds, so enter your business name and address just as they have them.
  • Planning to text from this number? Moving a number across is separate from being allowed to text US customers. To send texts to US numbers, your business also needs carrier registration. See Carrier (A2P) registration.
Needs checking: add anything specific to porting US numbers: what US carriers require (account number, PIN), how long it usually takes, and anything about toll-free versus local numbers.
