To make calls, Dialbird needs permission to use your microphone. If it doesn’t have that permission, or it’s set to the wrong mic, the person on the other end won’t hear you. Either way it’s a quick fix. You’ll usually see a message like:
Microphone access is required to make calls. Please grant microphone permission in your browser settings.

Letting Dialbird use your mic

  1. Click the padlock next to the web address at the top of your browser.
  2. Find Microphone and set it to Allow.
  3. Reload Dialbird.
In Settings, then Preferences, you’ll also see a Microphone access not granted warning under Audio settings whenever the browser is blocking the mic, so that’s another place to spot the problem.

Picking the right microphone

Sometimes Dialbird can hear you, but it’s using the wrong mic, like your laptop instead of your headset. To fix that:
  1. Go to Settings, then Preferences.
  2. Under Audio settings, open the Microphone dropdown and choose the right one.
  3. Talk, and watch the row of level bars underneath. They light up green when Dialbird is picking you up, so you know you’ve got the right device.
While you’re there, you can also pick your Speaker and hit Test to make sure you’ll hear the other person too.
