A snippet is a message you have saved so you do not have to type it out again: your quote follow-up, your "on my way", your bank details for invoices. Once it is saved, you can drop it into any conversation in a couple of keystrokes. ## Using a snippet In the message box, type **/**. Your snippets appear. Keep typing to narrow them down, use the **up and down arrows** to move through the list, and press **Enter** to drop the highlighted one straight into the box. Press **Escape** to close the list without picking one. Whatever you drop in, you can still change it before you send. You can also click the **/** button in the row under the message box to open the same list. The slash only triggers the picker at the start of a word, so typing a "/" in the middle of a sentence (like a date or a URL) will not set it off. ## Making a snippet 1. **Open your snippets:** type **/** in the message box, or click the **/** button. 2. Click the **+**. 3. Give it a **Snippet Name**, kept short, because it is what you will type after the slash. 4. Type the **Message**. 5. Click **Create Snippet**. ## Changing or deleting a snippet Open your snippets and click the **pencil** next to the one you want. **Delete removes it straight away.** There's no "are you sure?", so one click and it is gone. ## Worth knowing A couple of things are easy to trip over: * Snippets are plain text, exactly as you saved them. They do not fill in the customer's name or anything else, so if you want their name in there, type it in after you have dropped the snippet in. * Snippets belong to the number you made them on. One saved on one inbox will not show up on another. * The picker loads up to 50 of your snippets at a time, which is plenty for the usual set of saved replies.
