# Search

> Find an old message, contact, or setting in seconds.

Sooner or later you'll need to dig up something from a while back: an address someone texted you, a customer's details, a setting you can't quite place. Rather than scrolling, search takes you straight to it. There are two ways to search in Dialbird.

## Searching everything

To look across the whole of Dialbird, click **Search** in the left-hand sidebar (or press **Ctrl+K**, or **Cmd+K** on a Mac). A search box drops down from the top, ready to type in.

Start typing and Dialbird looks everywhere at once, grouping what it finds under clear headings:

* **Contacts**, matched by name or number
* **SMS Messages**, matched on the actual words inside your texts
* **Team Messages**, the same for your internal team chats
* **Team Members**
* **Settings** pages

Click a result to jump straight to it. Picking a message takes you into that conversation and lands on the exact message, so you don't have to scroll to find it. If nothing matches, you'll see **No results found**.

## Searching inside one conversation

To find something within a single chat, open the conversation and click the **magnifying glass** at the top. A **Search in conversation...** box appears.

Type what you're after and Dialbird finds it within that conversation only, showing a running count like **3 results**. Handy for finding the address someone texted you three weeks ago.
