# Blocking a contact

> Stop a nuisance number from calling or texting you across your workspace.

Every so often a number turns into a nuisance: a spammer, a time-waster, someone you'd simply rather not hear from. Blocking them stops that number from calling or texting any of your numbers, so they can't get through at all.

## From a conversation

The quickest way is straight from the chat:

1. Open the chat and click the **⋮** at the top (or right-click the conversation in the list).
2. Choose **Block**, followed by the person's name or number.
3. Dialbird checks first with **Block \[number]?**, explaining it will stop all their messages and calls. Click **Block** to confirm.

Their conversation then shows a red **Blocked** label at the top and a red icon in the list, and they can't reach you any more.

To let someone back through, open the same menu and choose **Unblock**. That takes effect straight away, with no confirmation.

## From Settings

You can also manage blocked numbers under **Settings**, then **Blocklist**. That's where you'll find everyone you've blocked, and where you can **Unblock** them or block a new number by typing it in.

See [Blocklist](/admin/blocklist) for more.

<Warning>
  Blocking works across your **whole workspace**. A blocked number can't reach any of your inboxes, or anyone on your team.
