# Overview

> Move a live call between people, and get more than two on the line at once.

Most calls are just you and one other person. Conference calling is everything you do when a call needs to involve more than that: handing it to the right person, checking with a colleague before you pass it over, or bringing everyone together on the same line.

It all happens from the controls on a live call, so you never have to hang up and start again.

## What you can do

* **Transfer a call.** Hand it straight to a teammate, an inbox, or any number. See [Cold transfer](/calling/conference-calling/cold-transfer).
* **Have a word first.** Talk to your colleague before you connect the caller, so nobody gets handed over cold. See [Warm transfer](/calling/conference-calling/warm-transfer).
* **Get everyone on the call.** Bring the caller and your colleague together into a three-way call. See [Group calls](/calling/conference-calling/group-calls).
* **Put someone on hold.** Give yourself a moment while the caller waits with hold music. See [Hold and hold music](/calling/conference-calling/hold).

<Note>
  These controls become available once a customer is actually on the call. Until then, the transfer, merge and hold buttons stay greyed out.
